Finalize Proposal

Research Topic: Water Therapy

Theme: Identity and sensors

Background: It is an interactive sound installation. Sounds will be produced when users click on the buttons provided on the umbrella's handle. So users can choose which sound that they want to hear first, so on and so forth. There will be 4 buttons representing the sound of water (waves, waterfall, rain and stream).

Problem Identification: This project can be categorized under water therapy treatment (some kind of meditation) to help people have balance in their life.

Aim and Objectives: This interactive sound installation is like some kind of water meditation (water therapy). People can feel so relaxing, calm, peace and harmony when hearing the sound of rain, waterfall, waves and stream. Water meditation can reduce mental chatter and promote relaxation.

Facts about water:
- Water cleanses our wounds; washes away our sins, tears bring us release and etc.
- Water washes away our negative thoughts and emotions and restores our state of peacefulness.
- Spiritual belief (baptism and holy waters).
- Central component of some religious.
- Buddhist value: - water symbolizes purity, clarity, and calmness, and reminds us to cleanse our minds and attain the state of purity.

Motivation: I want to let people experiencing water therapy for at least once in their lifetime. Not so many people know the fact that sound coming from certain water sources can be classified as water therapy.

Ideation and Concept: Sounds will be recorded earlier, and when users choose and click any buttons provided, they will hear a sound (for each button), which is the sound of water using the speaker and earphone provided.

Keyboard hacking

I learn how to hack a keyboard and make it as a button (or few buttons) after class,and i think its not that hard to hack a keyboard..With the help from Hafizadt,know i know how to hack a keyboard..Heheheee..And Farah help me opening the screws on the back side of the keyboard because i don't have a screwdriver! :D

No screwdriver??You can use your cutter! :D

And i keep on building my dome in the studio until 5pm..It's nice to do my work inside the studio because the weather is so hot outside,and it's just so comfortable staying in the studio with the air-conditioner..Heeheee..

#Dome 2

For the 3rd time,i'm still trying to build my DIY dome..I read again the requirements and instructions then i decided to cut the sticks into 3 different lengths..I just thought that the person in the web use ready-made different sizes of sticks,but i was wrong..Haven't thought about that at the first place..I'm just blur..

After cutting some sticks,i put them in 3 different bottles and labeled the bottles with S (6 1/2 inches),M (7 1/2 inches) and L (7 3/4 inches)..And since i've wasted some masking tape for the previous unstable dome,i bought a new one..



This time,i really follow the instructions shown in this website..DIY DOME.

I get stuck for a few hours until i figure out the right composition to create a stable dome.So here are the pictures of my unfinished stable dome.. :D







Will continue with this later.And maybe i'll try to use straws after this,just wanna try.

** I think i'll end up using a real umbrella.. T____T

Sound Workshop

I really enjoying myself during the sound workshop mainly because my installation has something to do with sound.So it was a real pleasure when i managed to get involve in this kind of workshop..This time,that workshop has been conducted by Mr. Lee Kwang,a sound installation artist.



When he asked us to record 3 sound which are the mechanical,ambient and nature sound (if i'm not mistaken,forgot already..hehee),i'm very excited..So i went to FCM cafe,HB3 food court,my room at hostel,hostel's toilet,and hostel's coridor.

I only use my mobile phone (Sony Ericsson W910i to record all the sound) and I was the one who recorded someone's sneezing in the toilet..It was just a coincidence..Heheheeee.. ^___^

And after Mr.Ky showed us the Bent Pikachu,that sound of the Pikachu really stuck in my mind..Ohh annoying pikachu!

#Dome 1

I'm being too excited in creating this dome and i ended up with a major failure because i don't follow the requirement (the lengths of the sticks must be different,but i use the same length for all the sticks)..

And now,presenting my ugly totally unstable dome.. T_______T

First,i use plasticine to stick the sticks together with each other..But sadly,the plasticine is not strong enough to make it stick together..

Frustrated with the result so i did these!

Then i made the second dome,but for this time,i use masking tape to stick the sticks together.It's kinda works but the shape is terrible because the lengths of the sticks have no different.






If you think that this is easy,you should try to do it by yourself,then you'll know.

Pillow turns into an umbrella..

Okay cut the crap,this title is not a magic stick that can turn a pillow into an umbrella..Hehehee..But the changes of my FYP really has something to do with umbrella or i can call it as dome look alike..

Last week,after having a consultation with mr.KY,he gave me some ideas about sound umbrella..So i Google and look for some information about that..Then i decided to create something that looks like this..


After i Google a few tutorials on how to create a diy sound umbrella and how to create a diy dome, i found some tutorials showing the steps to create that umbrella and that dome..Not that hard and i should give a try,no,I MUST TRY..Yeahh,that's the right word to say..

Final Semester???

Hello,i've been ignoring this blog for so long..Many things happen during the first week of this semester,everything involves my family members..And all i can do is to be with them when everything went wrong,that's the best i can do..

Now,back to FYP 2..I was a bit confused with my FYP 2 now,i have no direction and motivation,and i need to recall what i've done in FYP 1..


I found this picture when i was browsing some pictures on Tumblr..This is super cool! You don't need a real bed to fall asleep..hahahaa..I was wondering if i can do something like this for my final in FYP 2..What do u think??
